Le boccaccio situé à Destelbergen à ouvert ces portes en 1987, c'était le lieu de rendez-vous incontournable pour tous les amateurs de new beat et d'acid house. malheureusement ce club a été forcé de fermer en 1993.Le New Beat est un genre de musique électronique né en Belgique à la fin des années 80.
Ce nouveau genre musical est né en 1988 alors que l'EBM (Electronic Body Music) fait fureur à Bruxelles et que la House de Detroit et l'Acid house anglaise commencent à débarquer sur le continent. La légende veut que ce nouveau genre est né par accident dans ce club, lorsque le DJ Marc Grouls passe par erreur le morceau "Flesh" de "A Split Second" à 33 tours au lieu de 45.
